Council of State Affiliate Representatives (COSAR) American Geriatrics Society state affiliates seek to:

• Enhance the visibility of geriatric medicine at the local level
• Provide local educational programs in geriatric medicine
• Provide input to the national organization on local policy issues

In 1991, with the goal of improving communication between local affiliates and the national organization, the Council of State Affiliate Representatives (COSAR) was formalized. COSAR provides a forum for discussing the concerns of local practitioners, particularly on health policy issues, and the various activities being conducted throughout the country. COSAR representatives to the AGS Board of Directors and key AGS committees report forum outcomes to the national organization.
